Team UNO News Updates2006 Australian Senior Track Championships in Adelaide, 6-11 February: Leigh Howard again proved he is a force to be reckoned with, finishing first in the 10km scratch race, second in the 1km Time Trial and second (with Team UNO junior rider Alex Smyth) in the 30km Madison. Leigh also finished fourth in the 25km Points Race, won bronze in the Individual Pursuit and was a member (with Alex) of the Team Pursuit that won silver. Victorian Junior Track Championships in Melbourne 11 February: 15 year-old Ben Sanders raced his way into the Victorian U17 team that will compete in the Australian Junior Track Championships in Perth 1-4 April. This was only Ben's third ever race. In his first race ever (Echucha, 21Jan) Ben won the B grade scratch race and the Wheelrace and was third in the Time Trial. In his second race (Wangaratta, 5Feb) Ben finished second in the U17 2k Wheelrace. 2006 Jayco Bay Classic: Team UNO rider Evan Oliphant won the five-day support event, backed up by junior riders Alex Smyth, James Langedyk and Aidan McInerney, while senior riders David Pell and Rhys Pollock competing in the elite division. Tasmanian Christmas Carnivals: junior riders Alex Smyth, James Langedyk and Aidan McInerney rode the track races in northern Tas for the first time, competing against international riders, Olympic gold medalists and Australian record holders and came away saying it was "awesome"! Despite their relative inexperience, they all finished with minor placings and a bag-full of experience! As Aidan said in an interview with The Advocate, "It's mainly for the experience, to get a feel for what it's like in the big handicaps and how to improve ourselves."
